DPD Wicklow Raft Race around the Harbour

Thursday 28th July @ 7pm

Time to get raft building folks for this years Raft Race. DPD Wicklow have 50 oil drums available for raft builders, which can be collected from the Rathnew depot but please ring 0404 65006 first.

• Rafts must be constructed from large unaltered 40 gallon steel or plastic drums.
• They should not consist of more than 8 such drums.
• No covering or streamlining will be allowed on the submerged or underwater section of the raft.
• Paddles/Oars should be used for propulsion and can be supplimented by sails.
• No mechanical means of propulsion may be used.
• No more than 2 swimmers at any time may push the raft.
• Swimmers may not wear flippers.
• Raft crew must not consist of more than 6 people. This number includes swimmers.
• By law all competitors must wear lifejackets. 50 are kindly sponsored by DPD Wicklow.               

Participants are asked to remove their rafts from the water immediately after the race and not leave any materials floating in the harbour. The throwing of missiles is strictly prohibited. It is dangerous and unlawful.Please be respectful of all our entrants.

The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any rafts deemed to have been constructed outside the spirit of the rules.
