Regatta Memories
"I remember the Wicklow Regatta of Old! I would be visiting (in the 50s!) with the Howards, who owned the fish shop and sweet shop on Main Street. It was such fun, the greasy pole in the Vartry, the dances on the Murrough…..life was sooooo good!"

"I remember as kids coming home from England every year for the regatta which was the highlight of our year and which our mum and dad saved for all year and what it meant to us in the 60s/70s as returning emigrants as it did to so many other families that had left Wicklow in hard times. The regatta is in fact irelands oldest festival and the fun we had... as adults i think we forget how much fun it is for the children so make an effort and get your kids to everything thats going on, the commitee do a great job which is fairly thankless, i know, i was on the commitee for over 10 years back in the 80's so lets get out and support them folks... see ya at the regatta."
